The China International Development Research Network (CIDRN)
CIDRN is an informal association of Chinese research centers, institutes and university departments, created and developed by scholars and researchers interested in China’s role in international development, and -more particularly- in China’s engagement with other developing countries. The Network aims to provide a platform for the sharing and dissemination of international development knowledge and experiences among relevant academic institutions, international organizations, government agencies and individuals. It works to enhance knowledge exchange and cooperation between China and international development communities, and to support knowledge-based policy development, thereby assisting in the formulation of China’s international development policy.
CIDRN currently has 23 members, including 9 university research centers, 5 government agencies, 8 research institutes, 1 international organization. The network has a special International Advisory Committee, providing overarching guidance for the Network’s strategic direction and operation. The IAC meets annually to advise on the CIDRN work plan, review progress and suggest improvements. The members of the committee are internationally renowned experts in international development, and it has played an important role in providing a variety of technical support and research project assessment.
CIDRN has been established in 2012. Since 2013, the Sino British bilateral development cooperation program has been providing technical and financial support for the network.
The CIDRN aims to achieve its objectives in the following ways:
By building and enhancing the capacities of network members to undertake interdisciplinary scientific research;
By producing policy-oriented, evidence-based, scientific research on international development, particularly in the area of China’s international development cooperation and its relation to international development;
By disseminating knowledge and promoting knowledge sharing on China and international development through regular public events, publications and policy recommendations from researchers.
By September, 2015, CIDRN has sponsored 22 research projects, organized 18 public events and produced 7 policy recommendations. Through the establishment of resources platform and capacity building support for the research and policy formulation on international development cooperation of China, CIDRN has become an important exchange platform for Chinese scholars and an influential think-tank network.
中国国际发展研究网络
2012年，在国际发展研究中心的动议下，中国国际发展研究网络，是由从事发展研究、对外援助研究、国际问题研究的中国学者共同组成的非正式学习交流平台，旨在加强国内与国际相关学术机构、国际组织、政府与学者之间的国际发展知识与经验的分享，促进中国与国际发展领域的密切交流，进一步推进中国国际发展的理论研究和政策完善。
目前中国国际发展研究网络有23个成员单位，包括9所大学的学院或研究中心，5个政府研究机构，8个科研院所，1个国际机构。网络设有专门的国际顾问委员会，该委员会成员均为国际知名的发展研究专家，其在提供各种技术支持和研究项目评估中发挥了重要作用。
2013年起中英双边发展合作计划为网络提供了技术支持。目前，国际发展研究网络通过建立资源平台和能力建设支持中国国际发展合作研究和政策制定，目前已经成为中国从事国际发展研究的学者交流的重要平台，国际发展领域的民间智库。
国际发展研究网络活动主要包括以下几个方面：
1）定期举办中国与国际发展论坛。国际发展研究网路自成立以来先后举办了18次公共论坛，参与人员达到1500人次。论坛主题涉及中国如何参与国际发展、全球发展合作有效性、后千年发展目标与国际发展合作、全球可持续发展中的中德合作，后2015议程中的公民社会等等。该讲座目前已经发展成为一个包括学者、官员及国际机构在内的多元化群体参与、展示国际发展合作议题的著名论坛。
2）为中国参与国际发展提供政策建议。网络自成立以来邀请多位网络资深专家就目前国际发展领域的相关热点议题撰写了政策建议。内容包括中国参与有效发展合作的全球合作伙伴、中国参与国际多边与双边合作、中国参与后2015发展议程、西方发展援助经验与教训、中国非政府机构在国际发展合作中的作用、中国如何提高和改进对外援助、对于中国发展援助白皮书的评议等。
3）支持网络成员单位研究工作。网路先后支持了两批共22个研究项目。这些研究以国际发展为主题，既有宏观政策研究，又有微观民族志考察，横跨多个学科，特别关注国际发展合作、援助的有效性以及中国的对外援助政策及其与国际发展的关系等等。
在该网络平台的带动下，网络成员的学者积极参与中国与国际发展领域的各种讨论，在各级别会议上发出了中国学者的声音，促进了国际交流与合作，使网络真正成为一个分享和交流国家发展知识的平台，在国内外产生了较大影响。
